About Me

Hi, I’m Melanie.  I am the mother of 2 beautiful girls and the wife of a great husband who works hard so I can be a stay at home mom/baker/blogger/teacher/ crafter.

My college journey began with me wanting to be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  Numbers had always just made sense to me and I thought working with them would be the perfect fit.  Then, during one of many accounting classes, I started having second thoughts.  I quickly changed my major to finance so I could potentially work with my dad who is a financial planner.  I graduated from college with a business degree in finance and started working as a staff accountant for a small CPA firm.  Learning new things and doing the actual “number work” was enjoyable, but advising people on tax issues made me very uncomfortable.

After 7 years of steady work, I received the sweetest gift I could ever ask for – our first daughter.  During maternity leave, the thought of leaving her all day to work at a job that I was no longer passionate about made me sick to my stomach.  My husband and I both decided we would find a way to support the family while I became a stay-at-home mom.  Two years later, we were blessed with our second daughter and I couldn’t be happier.

Staying at home is a lot of fun, but it also has its challenges.  We all have our good days, our bad days, our fun and productive days where we can laugh and get it all done, and other days when we just don’t.  There are days when the stars align and both girls take synchronous naps and go to bed on time.  And other days when both girls won’t stop crying well into the night.  I try to keep positive with a calm demeanor, but sometimes I just have to de-stress.  That’s when crafting, baking, organizing, and cleaning come in to play.

Growing up, my mom and I always made time for crafts.  Many of my childhood birthday parties involved a group of my girlfriends coming to my house to bake, craft, and have a sleepover.  We baked pizzas, completed crafts, made and decorated cookie cakes, and ate cinnamon rolls the following morning.  Each year the crafts would be different and each year I loved every minute of it.  It would make me so happy if both of my girls caught the “crafting bug” or the “baking bug.”

I am starting this blog to share my love of crafts. I would love to help you create memories with your kids with craft and activities.

My goal is to create scrapbooks filled with crafts that my daughters and I completed together so they can look back to see how they grew and help you do the same.  I hope our children will create memories, just as I have memories with my mom.

My hope for the future of this blog is to grow alongside my daughters.  After 5 years, I should be able to better help a wider age range of children, their loved ones, and the “kids” who are young at heart to create fun, sometimes educational, exciting crafts.  I hope you will join me on this journey!
